Ability Moves is shaped by a clear vision and a strong belief that movement, when delivered well, can play a powerful role in building confidence, independence, and participation. It was born from a deep love of movement, community, and a strong belief that everyone deserves access to opportunities that build confidence, strength, and independence – regardless of ability.
Through years of working alongside communities, families, and individuals with diverse needs, a gap became clear locally. Too often, movement and wellbeing spaces felt either inaccessible, intimidating, or disconnected from real, everyday goals. There was room to do things differently – and Ability Moves was created as that response.
Why Ability Moves Exists
Ability Moves was founded through the combination of an elite sporting background, a love of yoga and mindful movement, and a genuine commitment to people. At its heart, this venture is about supporting individuals to build capacity in ways that are practical, empowering, and meaningful to their daily lives.
Our classes are designed to meet people where they are at, while still encouraging growth. We focus on developing strength, coordination, confidence, and participation – not perfection. Progress looks different for everyone, and at Ability Moves, that difference is welcomed.
An NDIS Service Provider in Coffs Harbour – With a Difference
Ability Moves is proud to be an NDIS service provider based in Coffs Harbour, but what truly sets us apart is how we deliver our support.
Ability Moves does not believe in one-size-fits-all programs. Instead, our classes are intentionally designed to be inclusive, flexible, and focused on capacity building. Every session aims to support participants to develop skills that translate beyond the class – into everyday movement, increased confidence, and greater participation in the activities they enjoy.
The approach is community focused and relationship driven. We take the time to understand participants, their goals, and what matters most to them. This allows us to create a space that feels safe, encouraging, and genuinely supportive – not clinical or transactional.
Looking Ahead to What’s Next
As this venture continues to take shape ahead of classes beginning this February, it feels like the right time to pause and reflect on what Ability Moves is really about – and what we hope it will offer our community. We have so many exciting plans for Ability Moves, from expanded class offerings to deeper community connections and collaborations.
If you’re a participant, family member, support coordinator, or plan manager – or simply someone who believes in inclusive, community led support – I invite you to follow along, connect with us, and be part of this journey.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Ability Moves and for supporting this journey as it continues to grow.
Warmly,
Marja
